Victor Ryzhakov

Theater stage director and pedagogue. Artistic director ofthe Meyerhold Theater Center, course instructor atMoscow Art Theater School.

Viktor had completed his studies atthe Far East Institute ofArts, Shchukin Theater School, and graduate school ofthe Russian Theater Academy.

Between 1991and 2001, heworked inMoscow Youth Theater under the tutelage ofG. Yanovskaya and K. Ginkas.

In1993, hebecame one ofthe organizers and the artistic director ofthe first independent theater festival atSochi, called Theater inSearch for Theater.

Between 1995and 2001, hewas also the artistic director ofKamchatka Drama and Comedy Theater. In2000, together with the actors ofKamchatka theater, Viktor organized international theater project Patrol No. 8 that took part innumerous international festivals.

In2001, Viktor joined Moscow Art Theater School asstage management lecturer. Took part inthe graduation ofthe Schoolsfirst group ofstage directors (2002-2005, artistic director was Kama Ginkas). Heisanactive participant ofthe joint program organized byMoscow Art Theater School and MFA program atHarvard University.

Since 2002, heisone ofthe founders and managers ofVolodin Theater Festival Five Evenings, organized inSt. Petersburg.

For many years, Viktor has been aclose creative collaborator ofplaywright Ivan Vyrypaev, and has staged his plays “Oxygen”, Existence No. 2, ValentinesDay, “The City Where IAm“, “July”, „Drunks”, and others.

Viktor stages productions both inRussia and abroad.
