He made his debut on the stage of the Moscow Art Theatre in 1948 in the role of April in the performance Twelve months. Playing Joseph II in the performance Amadeus directed by M. Rozovsky.
Author and commentator of chronicles in the book Boris G. Dobronravov (1983). Participated in creation of the book Actor (1994), on E. Evstigneev. From 1985 to 2000 he worked as director of the Moscow Art Theatre Museum. Author of articles and memories about masters of the Moscow Art Theatre and films.
