Yekaterina Vasilyeva


In 1962, Yekaterina was accepted tothe Gerasimov Institute ofCinematography (Belokurovsworkshop), completed her studies in1967, and was immediately accepted into the company ofYermolova Moscow Drama Theater, where she worked until 1970.

Like many actors, Vasilyeva first appeared infilms asastudent. Itwas asmall role in1965film novella TomorrowsStreet.
After graduating from the Cinematography Institute, Yekaterina Vasilyeva played her first major film roles inthe “Soldier and Tsaritsa“ and „Adam and Kheva”.

In1970, Vasilyeva joined Sovremennik Theater, and was part ofits company until 1973, when she left for Moscow Art Theater.

In1993, the actress decided toleave both theater and film, and became alay sister atTolgsky Monastery. Later, she was also atreasurer ofMoscowsSain Sophia Church inMiddle Sadovniki.

In1996, Vasilyeva returned tothe film set, and played the role ofQueen Catherine Medici inTVminiseries “LaReine Margot“ and „LaDame deMonsoreau”, both based onAlexander Dumas works. In1997, she appeared inValeriy Priyomykhovsfilm “Who, IfNot Us”. She continues toactively work infilm production tothis day.
